January 26, 2021

STATEMENT FROM MARK MCMORRIS ON POSITIVE COVID-19 TEST

Encinitas, California – Following a positive test for COVID-19 on January 22, 2021 in Encinitas, California, Mark McMorris has withdrawn from X Games Aspen, scheduled for January 29-31, 2021.

Mark will continue to self-isolate at his home and sends his best to the riders competing over the weekend at X Games Aspen.

“I’m definitely going to miss competing at my favourite event – X Games Aspen,” said Mark. “I’m sending good vibes to all the riders and to the organizers that have been working so hard to create a safe environment for everyone to compete under such difficult circumstances.”

Mark has no COVID-19 symptoms and is expecting a full recovery.

Earlier in the month, Mark attended the Laax Open in Laax, Switzerland where two members of the Canadian contingent tested positive for COVID-19.

Mark tested negative for COVID-19 at the Laax Open but the Canadian Men's Team did not compete in the event due to the timing of qualifications and needing to do contact tracing and further testing.

Mark was not deemed in close contact with those that tested positive for COVID-19 in Laax, Switzerland and followed all safety precautions implemented by the Laax Open.

Mark is unavailable for additional comment.
