Jamie was first on skis when he was 15 months old. He skied until he was 9 when his begging and pleading finally paid off and he was allowed to switch to snowboarding. Instead of dragging him up the hill to his ski lessons he was up early and eager to go to his snowboarding lessons. His coach, Cam Farrell from Beaver Valley Ski Club was enthusiastic, energetic, passionate and fun. Jamie grew up in Toronto and every weekend from December to March the family drove 2 hrs to the chalet at Beaver Valley. Jamie would be on the chairlift and a beautiful skier would come down the hill but he never cared, he would always point out the Snowboarders on the hill. As Ontario is mostly ice an alpine board was perfect.
Jamie began competing in local races and then graduated to Snowboard Ontario races. He continued doing well and participated in the National Junior Championships. Once he was FIS aged he raced further away from home. For the past several years he has trained and raced in Ontario, Quebec, USA, Chile, New Zealand and Europe.
Jamie's highlights so far in his young career have come in the form of 3rd at World Jr’s, competing in his first World Cup in Winterberg, Germany, training with the National Team in Italy, sightseeing in countries where he is competing (ie Bungee jumping and heli snowboarding with his Dad in New Zealand).
When Jamie isn't competing he is hanging out with friends and wake boarding at the cottage!
