Max Parrot to Miss X-Games 2021

January 28, 2021

Montreal, January 28, 2021 - Max Parrot will be sitting out the X Games in Aspen this season after getting conflicting COVID-19 test results.

The Bromont rider was scheduled to fly to the competition site on Tuesday, but a COVID-19 test came back positive, despite the fact that Parrot had no symptoms. The athlete then underwent a second test within 24 to 48 hours, and it came back negative. With just days to go before the competition, and still waiting for the results of a third test, Parrot has decided to bow out.

“Of course, I’m disappointed to be missing out on the X Games,” said Parrot, eight-time gold medal winner of the event. “But in view of what’s going on with the pandemic, this was the right decision.”

From what he’s been told, it is possible to have an initial weak positive result without symptoms, followed by a negative result. It could indicate that Parrot has already been infected but has recovered. “I have had several discussions with Health Canada and the X Games organizers, and though the situation is ambiguous, we agreed that it would be prudent for me to stay home to ensure everyone’s safety.”

Max will be available to answer media questions
