Big White 2018 World Para Snowboard World Cup

February 5 - 9, 2018 | Kelowna, BC

Overview

Canada Snowboard is proud to announce Big White Resort (Kelowna, BC) as official host mountain for the Big White 2018 World Para Snowboard World Cup FINALS. Over 80 Para athletes from 16 countries across the globe will compete in Snowboardcross and Banked Slalom from February 5 - 9, 2018.

In Snowboardcross, athletes will take part in thrilling head to head races as they weave their way down a course featuring jumps, rollers, berms and drops, hoping to edge out the competition to the finish line.

One of snowboarding's most iconic and storied events, the banked slalom event, feature riders will try to achieve the fastest time while weaving and navigating their way through a series of gates all the way to the finish line.

As the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympic Winter Games approach, Canada and the world's top Para-Snowboarders will be eager to put down their best performance for one huge goal - the chance to be crowned the overall World Cup champion.

Patrick Jarvis, Executive Director of Canada Snowboard, is excited to once again see a World Class event grace the slopes of Big White:

“Canada Snowboard is both honored and elated to be hosting the Big White 2018 Snowboard World World Cup Finals and we are pleased to be working with our partners, the International Paralympic Committee, Canadian Paralympic Committee, British Columbia Snowboard Association and the host venue Big White, to deliver an outstanding event. Our organizing committee will work hard to ensure that the organization of the event matches the exploits and the performances of the para-snowboard athletes who will be competing for the title of World Cup champion.

Canada Snowboard is also extremely grateful for the financial support of Sport Canada and the Province of BC to make our hosting of this event possible. With this support and the efforts of all the key stakeholders including sponsors, volunteers and technical leaders, we expect this to be the highlight of the year for IPC Snowboard, setting the stage for the riders looking to compete at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Korea. ”
