SHEENA KEAY, FIRST EVER FEMALE HEAD JUDGE AT AIR NATION FREESTYLE NATIONALS

January 31, 2022

Canada Snowboard would like to give a huge shout out to Sheena Keay, who will be joining us as the first ever female head judge at our Air Nation Freestyle Nationals

Sheena started judging in Alberta back in 2014 at an event that required one more judge. Given her experience in snowboarding, Geoff Peterson and Tye Balon gave her a crash course on judging and she’s been doing it ever since!

Sheena has always been super happy and excited about being involved in the sport. She completed the Canada Snowboards Coaching Program Competition Introduction workshop in 2019 and has been a technical leader for Elleboard and Grom events ever since. Currently she is still making her way through the Judging pathway.

Sheena’s dedication to the sport knows no limits, and has the term “Fa-Sheena-bly-late” coined after her. After a night of bartending she fell extremely ill prior to an event she was judging. She slept through multiple alarms, phone calls and text messages. Sheena rallied and got to Winsport as soon as she could and made it to the venue just in time and got the job done!

“Snowboarders are always looking to do tricks never been done, a first descent, well you are the first female to ever head judge a Canadian Nationals! On behalf of the judging community…Congrats and represent!!!” – Marcello Centurione, Committee Chair of the Judges Committee
