June 8, 2023 - Vancouver, BC – Canada Snowboard awarded the Sport Event Sponsorship Initiative of the Year at the 15th annual Sport Tourism Prestige Awards Gala held in Richmond, BC.

The Sport Tourism Gala left a mark on many, including our very own team with a surprise win and recipient of the Sport Event Sponsorship Initiative of the Year award. The award is a sentiment to the hard efforts from our entire team’s success at the Style World Cup Big Air World Cup in Edmonton, Alberta last December as part of the Shred The North World Cup Series.

In light of this success Canada Snowboard was a finalist and the runner up for the Sport Event Legacy of the Year award (for the Style Experience Big Air) and nominated in the top three for International Sport Event of the Year with the 2021/22 Snow Rodeo World Cup at Winsport in Calgary, Alberta.

This accomplishment wouldn't have been possible without the efforts from the many humans and organizations who have shared a hand in helping shape these events. From the volunteers, partners, provincial/territorial snowboard associations (PTSA's), course creators & shapers, riders, event personnel, officials, and to our staff - we thank everyone of you!

Among the many events up for nomination included the 2022 Grey Cup Festival & 109th Grey Cup Game, and the 2020 Tim Hortons Brier who were all finalists for the Sport Event of the Year with the award going to the 2022 Niagara Canada Games.

The STC Sport Event Legacy of the Year Award recognizes the outstanding achievements or contributions by individuals, companies or organizations that have helped advance sustainable and environmental stewardship within a Canadian Sport Event held between 2020-2022 and have left a demonstrable legacy to the community.

The awards gala is held in conjunction with STC’s annual Sport Event Congress, which is Canada’s largest annual gathering of sport and tourism professionals, event managers and industry suppliers that attracts approximately 400 delegates each year.
