It’s go time. The Olympic cauldron has been lit, the opening ceremonies have come and gone, and Canada’s snowboard teams are in Italy, ready to chase glory at Milano Cortina 2026. The energy is electric, and every athlete is dialed in. But let’s not forget what the Para team has been up to on home soil — racking up podium finishes at the Welcome to Paradise FIS Para Snowboard World Cup.

Before the Olympics kicked off, Canada’s Para Snowboard team finished off their snowboard cross season at the Welcome to Paradise FIS Para Snowboard World Cup at Big White. Across two intense days of snowboard cross racing, Canada left its mark on the podium. Tyler Turner took gold in LL1 on Saturday and silver on Sunday, while Sandrine Hamel earned bronze on both days. Chase Nicklin and Alex Massie pushed hard landing just outside of podium finishes. Welcome to Paradise has set the team’s momentum heading into Milano Cortina and set the tone for the upcoming Paralympic Games.

Before the opening ceremonies even began, Canada’s Slopestyle and Big Air athletes were in action in Livigno. Qualifiers kicked off with Cam Spalding, Eli Bouchard, and Frank Jobin in Big Air. Cam landed his first back 18 and Frank his first double backside rodeo in competition, while Bouchard threw down his signature “Mc Bouch” and “Bouch Bomb.”
Nailing a double rodeo twelve nosegrab on his third run, Frank secured his spot in the finals. Mark McMorris did not compete in qualifiers due to a training injury but remains hopeful for slopestyle competition. During finals training, Frank took a tough fall and injured his shoulder, but he pushed through and delivered a performance that had the crowd on their feet, finishing 7th in his Olympic debut.
On the women’s side, Juliette Pelchat and Laurie Blouin put down solid, technically strong jumps. While neither advanced to the finals, every landing drew loud cheers and showcased the Canadian energy — their runs made it clear the women are in the fight and gave fans plenty to get excited about.
With slopestyle just around the corner, the team will have another chance to show what Canada can throw down.

The Alpine team turned heads in Cortina with strong, consistent racing in Parallel Giant Slalom. Arnaud Gaudet came agonizingly close to the finals, finishing 7th and posting a career-best Olympic performance, proving he belongs among the top athletes in the world. Aurélie Moisan and Kaylie Buck both qualified for the women’s final, finishing 8th and 10th respectively, while Ben Heldman made a strong showing in his Olympic debut, finishing 14th. Each athlete delivered with precision and focus, showing that Canada’s alpine snowboarders are ready to compete with the best in the world.
