Tyler Turner named co-captain of Canada’s 2026 Paralympic Team

November 12, 2025

Para snowboard champion and Paralympic gold medalist Tyler Turner will take on a new role heading into Milano Cortina 2026, one that goes beyond the start gate.

The Canadian Paralympic Committee announced today that Turner has been named one of five athlete co-captains of the Canadian Paralympic Team. This initiative recognizes athletes who lead by example, both on their teams and in their communities.

“It is such an honour to be named a co-captain of Canada's Paralympic Team for Milano Cortina 2026, alongside such accomplished athletes,” said Turner. “I do not take this position lightly and will represent the team proudly and aim to be the best ambassador of Para sport possible. Go Canada Go!”

Turner made history at his Paralympic debut in Beijing 2022, winning Canada’s first-ever gold medal in Para snowboard and adding a bronze. Since then, he has continued to lead from the front, most recently as the reigning world champion in snowboard cross.

He joins co-captains Ina Forrest (wheelchair curling), Alexis Guimond (Para alpine skiing), Brittany Hudak (Para nordic skiing), and Tyler McGregor (Para ice hockey), with six-time Paralympic medalist Mac Marcoux serving as honorary captain.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games take place March 6–15, 2026, featuring athletes from around the world competing in six sports, including Para snowboard.

Canada Snowboard congratulates Tyler and the full athlete leadership team. We’re proud to have them representing the Canadian Paralympic spirit.
