The Para Coach & Community Elearning
The Para Coach & Community online training is designed around the LEARN, TRAIN, WIN pathway, mirroring the journey that athletes take to reach their goals. By following this pathway, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of the sport, its organizational structure, best coaching practices for individuals with physical impairments, and the necessary tools to coach and support para-athletes with the same confidence and enthusiasm you bring to coaching able-bodied athletes. This course will empower you to become an advocate for our sport.
In module 1 - you will LEARN about:
- The word of Para
- The history of Para Snowboarding
- The sport itself, its framework, disciplines, competition levels
- The classification process
- The sport-classes
- The eligible impairment
- The stats overview of Para Snowboarding in Canada
In module 2 - you will LEARN about:
- The Coaches’ roles
- The development pathway from the first interaction to the Paralympic Games based on LTD
- The equipment & their adaptations
- Good practices for athletes snowboarding with prosthetics
- The guidelines to create safe & inclusive training environments
In module 3 - you will LEARN about:
- Common prejudices
- The essential elements for communication and interaction with Para Athletes
- The importance of building a support network and developing a collaborative approach with stakeholders
- The attitude to adopt to feel confident at adapting and transferring current expertise to Para Snowboarding
In module 4 - you will LEARN:
- To TRAIN as an advocate
- To WIN as an advocate
