X Games is coming to Calgary
The world’s best snowboarders and freeskiers are coming to Calgary for a full week of world-class competition, music and action sports.
From February 19–21, 2027, Calgary will host the Canadian debut of X Games, with WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park serving as the second stop of the inaugural three-city X Games League Winter Season. The weekend will bring the world’s best skiers and snowboarders together to compete in Big Air, Knuckle Huck, Slopestyle and Superpipe, alongside two nights of major music performances.
But X Games won’t be the only major event hitting WinSport that week.
Before the X Games action begins, some of the world’s best snowboard and freeski halfpipe athletes will already be in Calgary for the Snow Rodeo FIS Snowboard and Ski Halfpipe World Cups.
Two major events. One venue. One week of snowboarding and freeskiing.
For Canada Snowboard, it is a major opportunity to put our sport, our athletes and Snow Rodeo in front of an even bigger audience.

Snow Rodeo has already become an important stop on the FIS World Cup calendar, bringing top snowboard and freeski halfpipe athletes to Calgary to compete at WinSport.
Now, with X Games following immediately after, Calgary will have an entire week dedicated to some of the biggest names and events in snowboarding and freeskiing.
That creates a unique opportunity to elevate Snow Rodeo alongside one of the biggest names in action sports.
With Canada Snowboard, Freestyle Canada, WinSport and X Games working together, the two events can build on each other, creating a continuous week of high-level competition, athlete activity and fan engagement.
And there is a practical advantage for athletes, too: instead of packing up and travelling to another destination after Snow Rodeo, athletes can stay in Calgary and go straight into another major competition on home soil.
World Cup to X Games, all at WinSport
Liam Brearley knows the venue well. A member of Canada’s National Slopestyle and Big Air Team, the snowboarder earned his first World Cup podium at WinSport. He will now return to the same place for Canada’s first X Games League event.
“I’m so pumped that the X Games League is coming to Calgary. WinSport is a pretty special place for me. It’s where I got my first World Cup podium, so I’ve got a lot of history and a lot of great memories there. To now have the first X Games League event in Canada happening at the same venue is honestly pretty cool. It’s going to be awesome to compete in front of Canadian fans, at a place that means so much to me, and hopefully put on a really good show. I can’t wait.”
For Liam and the rest of Canada’s athletes, the week will offer something rarely seen on home snow: multiple opportunities to compete at the highest level, in front of Canadian fans, without leaving the country.
And with X Games bringing its global platform, athletes will have an even bigger stage to showcase the progression and creativity that continue to push snowboarding and freeskiing forward.
World Cup to X Games, all at WinSport
Hosting two major international events back-to-back also means investment in the venue and the experience around it.
The infrastructure and upgrades being put in place to meet the demands of an X Games-level event will also be in place for Snow Rodeo, creating an elevated competition environment for athletes and fans throughout the week.
The result is a week where each event adds to the next. Snow Rodeo brings World Cup-level halfpipe competition to Calgary, while X Games expands the program across Big Air, Knuckle Huck, Slopestyle and Superpipe, bringing even more athletes, fans and attention to the city.
For Canada Snowboard, it is also an opportunity to work alongside X Games and Freestyle Canada to bring more attention to the sports, athletes and communities that make Canada’s winter scene what it is.
“This is about much more than one weekend,” said Heise. “It is a chance to bring people together around snowboarding and freeskiing, give our athletes incredible opportunities on home soil and show the world what Calgary and Canada can bring to winter sport.”
