Tyler Nicholson grew up in North Bay, ON and started snowboarding at seven after he received a snowboard for Christmas. After only a few days on the hill, he was drawn to the park. He started riding on rails and jumps and then, began entering contests.
Nicholson, being the youngest and newest addition to the National team has some big shoes to fill, but that shouldn't be a problem considering his Gold medal win in Turkey at the World Junior Championships and a 3rd place finish at The Shred Show Slopestyle in Whistler, BC.
Tyler previously trained with the Simple Snowboarding team and spends parts of his summer in the Southern Hemisphere training to stay on snow. In Tyler's short amount of off-season he coaches for South Bay Wakeboarding School, and loves to Motocross.
In 2017, Tyler took home 3rd place at the LAAX open in Slopestyle and followed that up by grabbing his first ever X Games Aspen medal, a silver, in Slope as well.
Tyler is a potential Olympic hopeful for the 2018 Winter Games.
