Megan Farrell blitzing to 4th at Alpine World Championships

Canada's Megan Farrell finished just off the podium Tuesday, placing fourth in a women's parallel slalom race at the FIS snowboard world championships in Slovenia. The Bracebridge, Ont., native finished with a score of 59.53. 

Sofia Nadyrshina of Russia captured gold with a score of 58.13, followed by Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister (58.25), and Selina Joerg (59.13). 

Toronto's Jennifer Hawkrigg finished 18th with a score of 1:01.21. 

One day after winning the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom final, Russian Sofia Nadryshina beat Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister to earn the gold medal in the parallel slalom final, at the FIS snowboard world championships in Rogla, Slovenia. 3:45
The fourth-place finish for Farrell comes one day after an eighth-place performance in women's giant slalom. Joerg struck gold in that race, followed by Nadyrshina and Austria's Julia Dujmovitz​​

Canada's Megan Farrell narrowly misses the podium at snowboard world championships

Megan Farrell of Bracebridge, Ont., was edged out at the finish line by Selina Joerg of Germany in the small final of the FIS snowboard parallel slalom world championships in Rogla, Slovenia. 3:13

On the men's side, Arnaud Gaudet had Canada's best finish parallel slalom, tied for 17th with a score of 55.91.
Benjamin Karl and Andreas Prommegger won gold and silver for Austria, respectively, followed by Dmitry Loginov of Russia.

Austria's Benjamin Karl bested fellow countryman Andreas Prommegger in the parallel slalom big final at the FIS snowboard world championships in Rogla, Slovenia. 

Darren Gardner (Burlington, Ont.) was 21st with a score of 56.27.
