Tyler living only 7 minutes from the nearest ski hill had an early jump start on a snowboard at the age of 8. Growing up on a farm in Brooklin Ontario with a housefull of 4 siblings he was eager to jet to the Lakeridge Ski Resort after school for it being so close by. As an alpine racer for most of his career he decided to enter into a snowboardcross event for the first time much to his mom’s wishes and to his surprise he ended up in 5th. This success inspired him to pursue more sbx races in the following year, and later qualified for the junior and senior alpine and snowboardcross National Championships in 2012 and also nominated as member on the Canadian National Development Team. In 2013 Andrew qualified representing Canada in the Junior Worlds Championships in Erzurum, Turkey. In an effort to further his riding he transitioned himself to Whistler, British Columbia with the Reign Snowboard Club. In the offseason Tyler enjoys wakeboarding, skateboarding, dirtbiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling and watching smash up derby’s. Goals for the 2017/2018 season include placing consistently among the top 15 every race.
