Canada Snowboard Athletes Set to Represent Canada at the 2025 Winter World University Games in Torino, Italy

Meet the  team heading to the 2025 Winter Universiade in Torino, Italy, competing across five exciting disciplines!

 

We are excited to announce the athletes who will represent Canada at the 32nd Winter World University Games (Universiade), taking place in Torino, Italy, from January 13th to January 23rd, 2025. With snowboarding events in Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS), Parallel Slalom (PSL), Snowboard Cross (SBX), Slopestyle (SBS), and Big Air (BA), this year's Games promise to be a showcase of emerging talent on the world stage.

The Universiade is the largest winter multi-sport event outside the Winter Olympics, bringing together around 3,000 athletes and coaches from 50 countries, competing in 11 sports across 6 municipalities. The athletes representing Canada have been selected through the Canada Snowboard Universiade Games selection protocol, and we are proud to introduce the team heading to Torino.

Canada’s Universiade Legacy


Canada Snowboard has a proud history at the Winter World University Games, consistently fielding competitive teams across multiple disciplines. The Games provide a critical platform for young athletes to gain international experience, with many leveraging their performances at the Universiade to propel their careers onto the World Cup circuit and even the Winter Olympics. This year, athletes like Noah Royz, Rose Savard-Ferguson, and Jonah Cantelon are poised to carry on this legacy. With a strong support team and experienced coaches like Cassandra Smith and Daniel Curtis, the team is well-prepared for the challenges ahead in Torino.


The Road to Torino


The 2025 Universiade is an essential part of the pathway for Canada Snowboard athletes, giving them the chance to compete against top
international talent in a high-pressure, multi-sport environment. For many of these riders, the Universiade will serve as a stepping stone toward future competitions, including the FIS World Cup and the Olympic Winter Games. Stay tuned for updates on their journey to Torino and throughout the competition in January 2025. We can’t wait to see how these athletesperform and showcase the depth of talent that Canada continues to produce.

Appeals Process


If any athlete or individual wishes to appeal a selection decision, they may do so according to the Canada Snowboard Appeals Policy, available on our website. Appeals must be submitted within 7 days of the selection announcement.
