Why and how did you start snowboarding?
I was always out on the ski hills since I was 3. A few friends started snowboarding so I tried it out and quickly dropped skiing. Been my passion ever since.

What is your first memory of snowboarding?
Hiking up Fernie alpine resort. Could not even turn but made a big jump and kept sending myself off into the powder. Doubt I landed one jump that day. The whole drive back to Cranbrook we were planning the next time to come back. I was hooked.

Why is snowboarding so much fun to you?
It gives my all my life pleasure all in one: Travel, challenge, focus, friends, family, nature, exhilaration, laughter, and even some chairlift loving some days.

Who has had the most influence on your snowboarding career and why?
There has been so many throughout the years that have influenced me. However my family really has had the biggest influence. They support me with everything I do and really believe I can achieve everything.

What is the most memorable moment you had in your career?
It is still coming...that is what keeps me loving this sport. Every year I make so many amazing memories. I take the good as well as the bad. It all makes me the person I am today.

Do you currently support a charity of any kind?
I really should support a lot more charities... So far it’s JumboWild.com and the nature conservatory. There are a lot of regions in B.C. that are under a lot of stress from human growth and we all must have a say in what should be done.

Do you do competitive sports other than snowboarding?
Not at the moment. Maybe golf in the next few years. Not PGA -- just some small tournaments. I think it is a great sport for mental focus.

What do you do in the summer?
Off snow training is mainly in the gym of course for me. I am lucky enough to have a fantastic training facility in North Vancouver. Level 10 fitness and its trainers have made huge progress in my fitness and in my snowboarding.

For fun the golf, mountain biking, rock climbing, skateboarding, and surfing anytime I have a chance.

How would you describe your style of snowboarding?
Flow??

What was your first job?
Painting a school with my uncle during the summer months.

What was your first car?
1970 AMC Hornet. Worked on a ranch one summer and my employers had a beat up car in there hay shed. He said I can have it if I can start it. Took the next few days getting her going. It was a great project. Painted it with a roller bright yellow. Loved it. I was 17 kept it running for about 4 years before we decided to give it the wreckers.

What is your highest level of education?
High school in Cranbrook. Mt, Baker Secondary. Then I took some courses in Kelowna at the College.

However that is when I really got into competing in snowboarding, so my grades dropped and I had to stop. Classrooms were a difficult place at that time in my life. Kinda excited about the thought of going back to school now.

Do you play a musical instrument?
I wish...I want to play guitar.

What’s on your Ipod right now?
I love music. All kinds. Maybe not country...

Favourite musical type?
Mainly an alternative style. From emo to heavy.

What music do you listen on race or contest day?
Fast-paced, but always start with Iggy pop these days.

Favourite band of all time?
I would say there is a band I have always been into. Not sure if I would say it is my favourite, but its Janes addiction.

Favourite movie of all time?
Deep blue.

Favourite food/meal?
Sushi, not California rolls but the real stuff. Gotta have my salmon...

Favourite book/reading material of all time?
Outside magazine, or most of Paulo Choelo novels.

Favourite World Cup region/location to compete?
Argentina/Chile. It’s the vibe... I just love it.

Favourite travel/touristic destination?
Too many gorgeous places in the world to remotely narrow it to a favourite. How about Lago di Garda in Northern Italy. There is great climbing, biking, wine and it’s a beautiful lake town.

Any superstitions?
Karma

Who’s your snowboarding hero/favourite snowboarder?
Terje -- since I was a youngster. I even got to race him at the X-Games one year. I could not concentrate...

Who’s your hero (actor, athlete, etc)?
People that push the limits of human nature. Whether it is climbing 8000-meter peaks or challenging yourself to walk again after 10 doctors say it is impossible.

Everyone has heard stories of the impossible becoming the possible.

Do you have any hobbies?
Photography. Landscapes of course form travelling so much while on tour as well as all my other time in the mountains when I am back in Canada.
