VICTORY CEREMONIES


The medal ceremonies will be taking place at BC Place except for Men PGS which will be taking place at Cypress Mountain. You will need a ticket to attend the medal ceremonies at BC Place. Some tickets are still available though VANOC. You will be able to purchase them in on November 7th. Click here to view the Victory Ceremonies schedule.

Olympic Victory Ceremonies will be held every night from February 14 to February 26, 2010 at BC Place*, and from February 14 to February 27, 2010 at the Whistler Medals Plaza.

Both venues will feature large video screens in order to link the nightly Olympic Victory Ceremony presentations in Whistler and Vancouver. Medals won in Whistler will be presented at the Whistler Medals Plaza before a live audience of 8,000. Medals won in Vancouver will be presented in BC Place before a live audience of 35,000.

Each night the Victory Ceremonies will be followed by a live concert in each of these venues.

*Please note: there will be no Victory Ceremonies held at BC Place on February 13, 22, or 27th.

CANADA OLYMPIC HOUSE (COH)


Overview


Canada Olympic Houses -- Vancouver and Whistler -- are the physical locations for the delivery of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s hospitality services, COH Service Centre, events (public and private) and the Family and Friends Program.

The Canada Olympic Houses are relaxed and friendly meeting places for Canadian Olympic athletes, their registered family and friends, coaches, support staff, sponsors, government partners, special guests and mission team members. It will be prime meetings sites in Vancouver and Whistler. So grab your Canadian flag! We’ll see you at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games as we paint the town red.


 

 

Location


Canada Olympic House (COH) Vancouver will be located on the 6th floor of the Hudson’s Bay Company’s downtown Vancouver flagship store on West Georgia Street.

Canada Olympic House (COH) Whistler will be located at the Whistler Public Library in the Whistler Village.
 


Hours of Operations/Capacity


The Canada Olympic Houses (COH) will be open every day during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games from February 12th to February 28th.
Hours of Operation: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. (pending competition schedules and special events).

Capacity: We encourage guests to visit the COHs during non-peak hours as to avoid queuing due to potential over-capacity.


Access


The Canada Olympic Houses (COH) are private facilities that require pre-registration for access. There will be no public, non-registered access allowed. This will ensure the hospitality experience is maintained for all guests.

As the COHs will be prime meeting places for Canadian Olympic athletes, their registered family and friends, coaches, support staff, sponsors, government partners, special guests and mission team members, access will be restricted to these targeted stakeholders.

Once registered, individuals are welcome to take part in the hospitality services and access resources offered at the COHs.

In order to gain entry into the COHs, individuals must either:


Step #1: Affiliation to the Canadian Olympic Team


If you are without a VANOC accreditation AND fall into one of the following categories listed below AND wish to gain entry to the Canada Olympic Houses, you must apply for access. The categories include:

• Family or Friend of a Canadian Olympic athlete.
• Non-Accredited Athlete Support (such as an Athlete, Coach, Support Staff, etc.).
• Canadian Competition Official.
• Sport Partner (such as Coaches of Canada, Own the Podium, Road to Excellence, VANOC, etc.).
• Olympic Family Sponsor (such as an Employee, Employee Guest, Service Provider/Support Staff).
• Government Partner (such as 2010 Games Secretariat, Federal, Provincial, Municipal, Sport Canada, etc.).
• COC Guest (such as a COC/COF Board Member, IOC/NOC Member, VIP, Sponsor/NSF Event Guest, etc.).
Please note that certain categories will have parameters around the number of guests they will be able to register for access to the COHs.


Step #2: Application Process (not available until late October. The exact date will be announced on this website)


Please proceed to www.olympic.ca, click on the Canada Olympic House icon and follow the instructions. The COH Access Database will be active shortly.

Please note that you will not be able to submit your on-line application unless all required fields have been completed. Please ensure you have all of the necessary documents and information on hand before you begin your registration process.


Step #3: Verification of Information


• Information submitted on the COH Access Database will be reviewed by the COC to ensure that all required information is accurate.
• The COC will verify all submitted information with the appropriate National Sport Federations, Olympic Games leads, government/sport/sponsor partners.
• Final authorization (approval/denial) will be granted by the COC for all applicants.


Step #4: First Visit to Canada Olympic House


• Bring a piece of photo identification with you.
• Proceed to the “Pre-Registered” desk of the Registration Area.
• Upon presentation of your identification, your information will be verified and your photo taken.
• You will then be issued your official COH accreditation.

Registered guests will enjoy the following complimentary amenities at Canada Olympic Houses – Vancouver and Whistler:

• A light meal service – lunch and dinner.
• Snacks and beverages available throughout the day.
• Media Centres and Internet Lounges.
• Comfortable Lounge Areas with TV viewing sections featuring extensive Olympic coverage.
• Athlete medal receptions.
• Special sponsor, government, national sport federation and partner events.
• Sponsor gifting and sampling.

• COH Service Centres.
• Up-to-date Olympic Winter Games results.
• Current and next day competition schedules for Canadian athletes.
• Olympic venue maps.
• Ticket information.
• Information on Vancouver and Whistler: city maps, public transportation, transit, attractions, etc.
 
 

Opening and Closing Ceremony Celebrations


The Canadian Olympic Committee is coordinating special Opening and Closing Ceremony Celebration events for COH guests. More information will be forthcoming shortly.

Cultural Olympiad


Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad is a celebration of the contemporary imagination. A series of three multi-disciplinary festivals that grows in scope and scale from 2008 through 2010, this is the first time an Olympic Winter Games has hosted a Cultural Olympiad two years before Games time.

Celebration Site


The Olympic and Paralympic experience for athletes, visitors, residents and media goes well beyond the activities that take place at the sport venues. Celebration sites — hosted by the City of Vancouver, City of Richmond and Resort Municipality of Whistler — are family-friendly environments featuring live performances, sponsor showcasing, recreational and cultural activities and much more throughout the Games.


Live City Vancouver


David Lam Park and the former bus depot site at Georgia and Beatty Streets will come alive as locations for Live City Vancouver during the Olympic Winter Games. The two sites will be connected by pedestrian thoroughfares on Hamilton and Mainland Streets, passing through Yaletown. Celebrations will continue in the Georgia and Beatty Street location during the Paralympic Winter Games.

O-Zone Richmond


Richmond's official Vancouver 2010 celebration site, known as the O-Zone, will be home to 17 nights of festivities in an outstanding riverfront location, linking the Richmond Olympic Oval precinct with the Canada Line rapid transit system during the 2010 Winter Games.

During the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Whistler Village will serve as an integrated network of performance sites, stages and screens. Every day, from 8:00 am to midnight, visitors will be able to enjoy an incredible range of entertainment including hundreds of performances by musicians, dancers and artists, nightly Victory Ceremonies, and exhibitions and interactive celebrations for all ages. Whistler Olympic/Paralympic Celebration Plaza will be an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators from across Canada and around the world.
