Have-A-Go Dayz

This winter, the Canadian Para Snowboard Program (CPSP), with the support of the Canadian Association of Disabled Skiers (CADS) and the Provincial Territorial Snowboard Associations (PTSAs), is launching the Have-a-Go Dayz Series. Have-a-Go Dayz events have two parts:
Day 1: Adaptive Learn to Ride instructional Workshops for volunteers, instructors and coaches
Day 2: A Snowboard camp for individuals with disabilities and opportunity for newly trained volunteers to get on the snow with participants
This program is meant to create a place for people to feel comfortable learning new skills. Canada~Snowboard(C~S) has created a camp that not only supports developing snowboarders but also the volunteers and instructors who want to get involved in this exciting side of snowboarding.
2012 Events:
The goal for the 2011-12 season is to run three Have-a-Go events in BC and Alberta. We hope to support 8-10 participants and 16-18 volunteers at each of the five events. Depending on demand these numbers may increase but the minimum volunteer to participant ratio will be 1:1 or 2:1.
Proposed Dates:
Jan 1-2: Canada Olympic Park, Alberta
Mar 15-16: Kimberly, BC (during CADS Festival)
April 13-14: Whistler, BC (during Telus Festival & WASP Rotary GS)
Registration
Details for registration are currently in the works. In the mean time, if you are interested in getting involved and attending one of these events, please contact Candice, Para Program Manager at .
Logistics:
Each ski resort will have a different set up depending on the resort and CADS program’s infrastructure. The plan is to set up at the base of the mountain with tent, chairs and equipment to set all the riders up for the day and to bring awareness to the program. This would be a great place for sponsors to showcase their product or offer sampling.
