LTAD Vision 2020

Vision 2020
Vision 2020

(.pdf, 6 MB)

The Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD) sets out the process of an athlete’s participation in sport from the earliest acquisition of basic skills through participation in the Olympic Winter Games and beyond – “from playground to podium”. It is based on the participant’s developmental (both physiological and mental) age, rather than chronological age.

Canada~Snowboard has adapted the conceptual LTAD model to the development of athletes in our sport. Canada~Snowboard's LTAD has the following stages:

  • Active Start
  • FUNdamentals
  • Learn to Ride
  • Training to Train
  • Training to Compete
  • Learn to Win
  • Training to Win
  • Riding for Life

Our Goal is to have a fully integrated system in place for snowboarders to reach the podium or make lots of money as a PRO, with no more system gaps!

Our first step is to build and implement a snowboard Long Term Athlete Development model.
