The Canadian Ranking Lists are generated to rank Canadian competitive snowboarders in the disciplines of Slopestyle and Halfpipe. They are used for selection to events such as World Cups and FIS World Snowboard Championships and are a major component of National Team selection. Other uses include selection by some provinces and rider comparison by coaches. Multiple event streams are used to ensure that all riders competing are ranked.

Rider Name: John Doe
Event Event Value Event Ranking Points per event
Copper Grand Prix 90 15 39
Canadian Open 70 25 13
Boreal Rev Tour 40 10 23
Mt. Snow FIS 30 3 25

Total Points=100

Events and Values Explanation

Each event has been given a value from 10 to 100, called the Event Value. The values have been set based on a number of criteria such as number of athletes, level of athletes competing, prize money, ability level of course and whether it is an International or Canadian field.

The Event Value of each event can be Increased or Decreased by a max of 10 value points after the event. This is done on the discretion of C~S and is based on an abnormality in competition level and/or numbers of competitors.

Rider’s individual results in an event are called their Event Ranking. Each Event Ranking has a corresponding Ranking Percentge based on the Points Breakdown. (see below)

For each event, the Event Value is multiplied by the Ranking Percentage for each riders Event Ranking, which generates an individual's Points per Event.

The highest four (4) Points per Event for a rider over a 1-year period are added to get their Total Points. (Riders who attended less than 4 events are still being ranked as it is a combined total and not an average).

Every rider is ranked in their discipline by their Total Points. Men and Women are ranked separately. The ranking list database is updated every week. The list may change during this week and should be current within 7 days of every event.

Points Breakdown

For each Ranking there is a Percentage Points per Ranking (% PPR)
When the Points per Event is calculated the Event Value is multiplied by the % PPR on this table.

For example:

Event Copper Grand Prix
Event Value 90
Event Ranking 15
% PPR (15) 43%
Poins per event 39

Selection Dates
